Christian Divorce Recovery Coach, Author + Speaker

Hi, I'm Leah Deen

I help midlife women rebuild their identity through Christ after divorce, grief, and life’s hardest transitions—so they can release the shame, find their footing, and rise again with faith and strength.

My life looked put together.

But inside, I was falling apart

For years, I was the woman who kept smiling while quietly unraveling. After a 17 year marriage crumbled, I found myself approaching 40 without a home of my own, trying to rebuild my finances, return to the classroom, and hold everything together for my children.

I walked into work exhausted after sleepless nights, anxiety, custody battles, court dates, and days when simply getting off the couch felt almost impossible. On the outside, I was functioning.

On the inside, I felt hopeless, ashamed, unlovable, and unsure of who I was anymore. I had spent years knowing myself as a wife, mother, daughter, teacher, and caregiver. When the life I had built changed, it felt as though my identity had been stripped away with it. I remarried before I had fully healed—and eventually found myself walking through divorce a second time.

That second ending forced me to face something I had tried very hard to outrun:

The wounds we don’t heal don’t disappear.

They find other ways to surface. For me, they surfaced as bitterness, anger, and shame. I couldn’t keep carrying all of it and expect to experience joy, love my children well, or move forward into the life God still had for me.

Then, as my second marriage ended, my mom was diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer.

Watching her changed everything.

In the final months of her life, I watched my mom continue reading her Bible, praying, loving people, and choosing joy. She never pretended that what she was facing was easy. She simply trusted that whether God healed her here or walked her home, He would remain with her.

Her faith showed me what resilience really looked like.

It wasn’t pretending the pain didn’t exist.

It was learning how to stand in the middle of it without allowing it to take away who you are.

HOW I REBUILT

I didn’t rebuild all at once.

I began with one faithful step.

Running became one of the first ways I released the pressure I had been carrying. Moving my body gave my mind somewhere to breathe and helped me think more clearly.

But movement alone couldn’t heal me.

I had spent years working with women through fitness and nutrition. Over time, I began noticing that many of my midlife clients didn’t need another perfect plan.

They were caring for aging parents, grieving losses, navigating divorce, raising teenagers, sending children to college, and trying to remember who they were beneath everything life required of them.

They weren’t lazy or unmotivated.

They were overwhelmed.

Our conversations became less about macros and workouts and more about what was happening underneath the surface. I began helping women examine their thoughts, daily rhythms, faith, and the beliefs they had formed about themselves during difficult seasons.

That shift changed my coaching—and my own life.

I realized that lasting transformation doesn’t begin with a meal plan, a motivational quote, or someone telling you to try harder.

It begins by rebuilding your foundation.

For me, that meant returning to Scripture, naming the lies I had believed, healing the wounds I had carried into new seasons, and creating small rhythms that helped me keep moving forward when looking at the entire staircase felt too heavy.

WHAT I KNOW NOW

Here’s what I believe about healing after divorce.

You have to rebuild yourself before you
rebuild your life.

There is plenty of guidance available for the practical aftermath of divorce—attorneys, finances, custody, housing, and paperwork.

Those things matter.

But very few people talk about what happens to the woman underneath all of it.

What happens when you no longer know who you are without your marriage?

When shame follows you into church, the salon, family gatherings, and rooms where you’re convinced everyone knows your story?

When you’ve spent so many years being someone’s wife, mother, or caregiver that you don’t know what remains when one of those roles changes?

That is the woman I feel called to help.

I’m not here to tell women whether to stay or leave. I’m here for the woman who has already walked through divorce and is asking:

How do I heal now?

Who am I after this?

How do I release the bitterness and shame?

How do I trust God—and myself—again?

I believe your identity was never meant to rest entirely in a marriage, a relationship, or the roles you fulfill for everyone else.

Your identity begins with who you are in Christ.

And when that becomes your foundation, you can walk into rooms with your head held high—not because the past didn’t happen, but because it no longer has the authority to define you.

This is more than positive thinking.

Motivation will fail you.
Your foundation doesn’t have to.

My approach combines biblical truth, practical mindset work, healing from painful experiences, and simple movement rhythms that help women rebuild without becoming even more overwhelmed.

I won’t hand you a motivational Scripture and tell you to think positively.

We’ll look honestly at the lies, shame, fear, and negative thought patterns keeping you stuck. Then we’ll begin replacing them with truth and creating small, sustainable rhythms that support your emotional, spiritual, and physical strength.

You don’t have to see the entire staircase.

You only need the next faithful step.

This work ultimately became the foundation of the E.A.G.L.E. Method™ and my book, Resilience Rising—both created to help women rebuild their identity, renew their minds, and rise with greater faith, resilience, and purpose.

WHAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT?

What I want for every woman I serve

Walk into the room with your head held high.

I want you to know that you are still loved.

Still lovable.
Still worthy.
Still held by God.

I want you to walk into church, a gathering, or any room that once made you shrink and know that divorce is something you experienced—it is not your identity.

I want you to release the shame, name the lies that have kept you stuck, rebuild your daily life, and discover purpose on the other side of what happened.

Your story may eventually help another woman.

Or your next step may simply be getting off the couch, opening your Bible, and choosing not to believe the same lie today.

Both matter.

Both are rebuilding.

And both can become the beginning of your rise.

You Should Know…

  1. I was an educator before I became a coach.
Years in the classroom taught me how to take something overwhelming and make the next step feel understandable and possible.

  2.  Movement helped me find my footing.
Running became an outlet during some of my most difficult seasons. Today, I teach movement as a tool for clarity and strength—not another standard women have to meet perfectly.

  3.  I’ve had to rebuild more than once.
I have walked through two divorces, financial uncertainty, the loss of both parents, and the death of my children’s father. Resilience isn’t something I studied from a distance.

  4.  My faith is not an accessory to my work.
I believe true healing and a secure identity begin with Christ. Every part of my coaching is grounded in that belief.

  5.  I’m the author of Resilience Rising.
This book was born from the lessons, losses, Scriptures, and small rhythms that helped me rise again—and now help me guide other women forward.
